One of the biggest arguments I have heard against Christianity is hypocrisy. It is common to speak to someone about Christ, and they bring up an example of how they know or knew of someone who didn’t live out what they said they believed. Their argument is typically about how they can’t believe in a God that even the so-called Christians can’t seem to follow. Of course, I explain how we are not meant to follow people but Christ Himself. Humans are flawed, and He is not.

However, it does always sadden me to hear that this is so often people’s experience with Christians.

The Bible says in James 1:22, “But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

In these last days, when being persecuted for our faith is real, it is essential to remember this verse and ensure we are doing what the Word says. Not merely listening to good sermons and going about our day as usual. We must be living examples of the Word, or we only deceive ourselves because we are not fooling the world. They can see when we live out what we say we believe or not.

The Bible says to examine ourselves to see if we are even in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). From time to time, we must stop and look at ourselves to see if
1) we are really in a relationship with Jesus and not just trying to use Him for what we can get and
2) to ensure we are walking out what He says and not just letting it go in one ear and out the other.

We are put here for a reason. If you are not walking out the Word of God in your life, you are not living the life Christ died for you to have.

Do not settle for less than God intended for you.
